    06 gp1300r overheat warning????

Hey guys, rode my 06 gp1300r yesterday. I left the ramp warmed it up then it was about a 10-15min ride out to the surf, I was at about 3/4 throttle almost to the surf then the exhaust temp buzzer and warning light came on and so did the check engine light? I stoped the ski for 5min or so started it back up again reset the dash then went and jumped surf for about 2-3hrs no warnings no problems with the ski! Then on the way back to the ramp I was at about 3/4-full throttle and again the warning lights came on, so what do you guys think could be the problem? I have a riva blue free flow and r&d dplate, I have removed the cat sensor but I have not put the chip in. I tried it with the chip but the warnings came on as soon as you started the ski but would run fine without it? Could this be the problem as the computer thinks the ski is overheating????

It is normal to get random overheat warnings with the d-plate whether the sensor is installed or not. Mine come on every 10 hrs on the xxx0.0 ?? go figure.

put a 2.2 k ohm from radio shack and the warning will not come on again.

DITO .. my 08 GP1300 did exactly the same thing. I was out about 15 mins. and the warning lite came on & beepBeep. I was worried I had an overheat. I shut off and restart no issues. When I got home I removed the chip. I never had a problem again. Turns out the I never needed the chip from the git go. It use to be with the chip in ...just after starting the ski the warning Lite & beep would come on and I would have to shut the ski off & restart then no issues. Now I just start it and go ! Good luck

I'm pretty sure the 06' and up doesn't need a chip, period.
