I have seen people mount them in the engine compartment.I have been told a lot of people do this so that they will take the seat off when they put it in the water to check for leaks and to let the engine bay vent when starting the ski.

Remove and bypass the fuel selector switch on the right of the fairing (sp?), go with a dual pickup setup in the tank, and put the primer where the selector switch was.

Exactly, that valve will go bad anyways.

Yep the dual fuel is the only way to go. I know it is more work than you planned but easier now than later.

    Its simple

    1. Remove all the lines from the tank and fuel selector also disconnect the vent line
    2. Remove the fuel selector.
    3. disconnect the plug for the sending unit on your gas tank and remove the fuel pick up assembly.
    4. Remove the screen at the bottom of the fuel pick-up assembly and discard.
    5. remove the cover on the fuel pick-up and lengthen the main line to match the reserve line I used some of the stock hose for this, install the cover and reinstall fuel pick up and electrical.
    6. connect the return line from carb to fuel pick up return line.
    7. mount additional fuel filter I found a good spot under the hood latch on mine.
    8. run fuel lines from the two tank pick-ups to the two filters.
    9. run fuel lines from the two filters to your carbs I used an additional 90* fitting where the original fuel line went into the tee. I then put tees in between carb 1-2 and 2-3 all done easy hour Job.

It helps to have new hose for this job The OEM is Great! I went with the Riva hose I want to see things moving. I bought some hose on ebay once won't do that again it swelled not good stuff.
