Why 08+ Exhausts on 07- skis?

Checking posters' sigs, I'm noticing that I'll often see 07 and older RXP and RXT owners running 08+ exhaust setups. Is there an advantage to the newer water boxes? The 07- ones are on sale right now, so I was thinking of picking one up, but wanted to first understand this trend.

    Thx!

I would say that the 08+ exhaust is slightly less restrictive than the J-pipe and it cleans up some of the clutter in the hull

Am I right in assuming that the 08+ exhaust requires an extra connector (mid-pipe) to work in an '06 RXP?

yes you'll need the mid pipe,an 08+ v-band and the rubber coupler....plus the new style water box

Yes sir, big advantage. With the j pipe you have water (and if riding n salt....10x worse) that can get stuck on the manifold side of the j pipe and run back down and sit on top of your valves. With the 08+ you have a straight pipe which is angled straight down towards your water box so it makes it much harder for the water to run down and sit on top of your valves.....therefore decreasing corrosion on your valves.
