Crankshaft help needed.
OK, here's the deal. I just recently purchased a 95 SL750. It has a burnt piston but the others seemed ok, I am having them all bored and buying new pistons and rings anyway. My question is about the crank. As of right now it is seized. I think the ski sat for awhile and it got rusted because the top end was apart. Does anyone think that it is possible to free the crank without splitting the cases?, or is that a bad idea. My first thought was to take it apart to clean it and inspect it. Are the bearings shot, maybe. I plan on returning this machine to stock (no mods). What would you guys do? Crank rebuild is expensive!

If the crank bearings are rusted you need a crank rebuild!
