'96 SLT 780 - short on RPM
OK - bought another MFD - installed and now it will get up to 51-5200 RPM - before it would stay in the get home rpm range 1800 or so. I'm missing 8-900+ rpm. Sled has been sitting two years, new plugs and cleaned the water filter. Sled did have blue stabil - started easy after cranking for a while. Does it sound like the mains are pluged or ...

Sounds like you're missing around 1300 RPM. Ski should run around 6500 RPM. Check your compression, and your high speed needle settings. Have you recently rebuilt the carbs? If not, this could be the culprit. The entire fuel system really needs updated.....

Awesome quick reply - to my knowledge - this is a virging ski other than the intake grate and several MFD's - if i go the rebuild route - what do i need? Changes hoses also?
This has to be the best forum!

To update everything you would do new fuel lines, rebuild the carbs, rebuild the fuel pump, and clean/rebuild the fuel shut off valve. Rebuilding the carbs is the expensive part, but you just gotta suck it up and do it right.....
