Anyone using the WSM SS wear ring?

Heard of good and bad with aftermarket plastic wear rings. Haven't heard anything the WSM Stainless Steel wear rings. Anyone running one?

Stainless steel wear rings dont give when you suck up debris.
When you doo suck something up the impeller is usually toast.

Also the metal wear rings have been known to waste the edge of the impeller costing you a redo on the impeller or replacing it.

If your racing the ski 100% then you run a ss wear ring.
    Rip on.

That particular SS ring is garbage.... but as always, you get what you pay for! If your gonna run a stainless ring, go for a full stainless ring. There are positives & negatives between both OEM rings and full stainless rings..... you just have to find out what works best for your application.

Oem is the best general application.

Just depends on what kind of riding you doo..

Mostly river, sometimes lake Michigan. More or less normal riding. We do get a decent amount of typical debris in the local rivers though..

Anybody know anything about the Solas SS ring (impros.com) in comparison to the Riva SS ring?

I'd only use stainless in open water. where you don't want any kind of debris surviving a trip into the pump to strand you a mile or more offshore making 2 knts at 6k rpm

Plastic is better for most other applications. Like riding here at Elephant Butte Lake, where thanks to our drought we have more beach to reach..problem is the beaches are covered in gravel

I use a mix of OEM and WSM rings depending on what the customer needs.

When they tear up thier pump a couple of times a year, I go with the cheaper rings.

Big seadoos pulling tubes or skis..always a seadoo oem.

I do a lot of yamaha pump conversions to plastic..our gravel here is mostly granite..it just tears up anything it gets into. I've seen a golfball sized bit totally trash a plastic pump housing. Cut the ring and pump to the bone. I didn't realize how bad ( how can you when there is melted plastic everywhere ) until I went to cut out the old ring amd the pump literally broke in two.

WSM doesn't sell the stainless ring anymore btw..
