Price of used Polaris PWC parts

Polaris Watercrafts aren't worth nearly what they once were especially after they stopped making them in 2004. Also they are getting old with even the newest models approaching 10 years old. Why is it most people want as much for one part as you can buy a complete watercraft for? It doesn't seem like many parts are selling too quickly either? Why?

Alot of people look to see what they are listed for on E-bay by some sellers that sell to the dummies that need something and falls for the No Longer Available (NLA) or are in a hurry for repairing the ski. And then there are some electrical parts that are getting rare to find new and failing faster as skis get older. The Lucky ones know about this site and can normally get fair prices from our members. But even then, We have some people that what top dollars for their parts and want to buy what they need at nothing.....Funny how that seems to be.

Lot of sellers fail to understand the basic concept of supply and demand.

Agreed. Fuji parts are a dime a dozen. The domestic electrical stuff is gold these days. Even at that, if you have a little patience you can still find a good deal.

I recently picked up a complete sl 750 electrical box with a cdi for $100 on ebay. deals are out there, but you have to be ready to take a chance if you want something at a "good" price.

I got lucky, the CDI worked. My customer got lucky, he didn't have to pay an inflated price to get back on the water quickly.

I got lucky, the customers next door neighbor has 6 Seadoo rxp's ..and now I'm his "go to guy" since "somebody else" quoted him 3x what I wanted for the repair.

My advice to Polaris owners who love their skis:

buy any Polaris ( running or not) you can find to strip for parts as you are correct, some simple parts are being sold for huge markups as the supply is extremely tight.

A ski with a seized engine is likely to have a working ignition, so keep that in mind

There is some momentum going to get some aftermarket electrical back in production

I'm still debating on parting out my slt 700, its ignition is all working(i tested them). It's got a blown engine and I'm still on the fence about fixing it at the moment. I know I can definitely make some money if I part it out.
