    99 sltx drive shaft bearing housing not rebuildable ? old alum work on 99 ?

    so the 99 sltx came with the metal un rebuildable housing so the manual says ? will the older model aluminum ones work on my ski should I get one of those and rebuild it, or just get a new metal style one ? thanks


    are these good anyone used these b4 ?

    They are rebuildable. Just pull the seals out and replace them.

    is it just seals on the outside ?

    or is that bearing thing inside suppose to spin to ? mine has lil rust inside and nothing moves in there, lol

    There is info posted showing how the split bushing, not bearing, is pressed into the through-hull housing.

    The important thing with the bushing is how much looseness and wear the bushing has when riding in position on the drive shaft. There should be close to zero wobble and slop when the through-hull is slid into position on the driveshaft, with both out of the hull.

    Also examine the drive shaft for excess wear in the areas where the seal lips ride. Circular grooves are no good for the seals. In some cases where the adjacent drive shaft surface is still good, you can trim the stubby rubber 'hose' section a few mm shorter which shifts the through-hull sealing lips to a non-worn portion of the drive shaft surface.

    funny u say that I was gonna ask about the worn rings on drive shaft from seals , so ya I need to trim hose and move it a lil ,

    so all it is , is seals riding around the shaft - sorry , bushing inside ? but does not spin like bearing ? , ? thx

    Have a look in the Jet Pump section from my signature links. I think all the info is in there.
