    Painting below bond line......

I am thinking about painting the side of the hull below the bond line on my GP1200 like some of the Factory Yamaha's were back in the day. I want it blue to match the rest of the upper body. My question is, do any of you know a way for me to go about this? My biggest concern is masking it off and getting a really sharp edge where the blue will meet the white. Have any of you done this yet?

The automotive Masking tape made for this works well I have done it on a car and it streches to conform to surfaces well. You will need to do a little wet sanding with 2000 grit to smooth the edges a bit after painting to blend well.

Thanks for the tip. What kind of paint do I need to get for this, or should I just say, what ALL supplies do I need?

Hey Bill, not to sound like a complete idiot, but can I just spray paint the bottom with regular spray paint (enamel)? I saw some appliance epoxy at Lowes that seems like it would work too. I trued the bottom of my ski and felt like I needed to paint it with something.

after looking at the link, I saw they offer it in an aerosol can. do you think that would look good if you take your time, or should I pay and have someone with a gun spray it? Does the hull require a clear coat?

I think done right you could rattle can it. But it would come out better done with a gun. also enamel is not a good choice you want an epoxy paint, enamel will peel right off.
