Think the VX series will ever get more power?
I know the VXR(S) is more or less the VX with the 1.8 stuffed in it- but think Yamaha will ever bump the stock 1.0L power up? I'm thinking of jumping ship from Seadoo to Yamaha and I have my eye on the FZ's. The wife's ski is currently a 155 GTX and I was thinking the VX may feel like a "dog" to her. I thought about the VXR for her but that's pretty much a 65 mph ski- which i think can get her in trouble. Her current ski is good for 52-53. I know the VX is about there, but Im thinking it's just not gonna have the same holeshot and I'll have to hear about the "slug of a ski" I bought her.

Upping the power for the VX wouldn't make a lot of sense to me. The VX is the rental companies ski of choice and they are rock solid and Yami owns marketshare amongst the rental guys. The VXS is a good choice. Teach her how to ride it. The acceleration isn't ridiculous and the top end is easily controlled. Worst case put it in learning mode.

Listen to Vince, my wife does just fine driving my FZ, I think yours would be quite happy with the VXS.

My wife cruises at 60 plus all the time she is about 115-120lbs and not the athletic type.

It's all in the right hand. It'll only go as fast as you/her let it.

Like said above vx is yamaha's rental gravy. If we want more power as a more than rental pwc user we need to step up to the fx/fz hull and powertrain...imo ....

I just traded in a 2011 VX Deluxe with 24hrs for 2013 FZS. Not saying anything bad about the VX line. I loved the lil ski but grew out if it quickly. Sure the FZS is a lot more ski but if I need more power it's there and the ride. ..awesome!

also , in order for the insurance companies to insure them as rentals, fairly certain they cant go over 55 mph. I know Loyds of London has a speed limit ...Yami, does a good job of detuning from the factory, but thats mainly for legality issues.
In all fairness tho, the only thing the VXR have been doing at the rentals down here is blowing up....
