If forums like this didn't exist, and I couldn't find any answers then I guess what I would do is this:

    1. Flip the hull over so the bottom is facing the sky.

    2. gently sand the damaged area

    3. smooth some epoxy resin over the damaged area until it is flush with the undamaged part of the hull. If the damage is really deep, I would lay a piece of fiberglass in with the epoxy.

    4. Once it dries, sand it flush and then do your best and try to paint it I guess!!??!? Or wait...you can dye the epoxy to the closest color first of all, then it shouldnt be to far off once you sand it.

Again, that is just what I would do if I had to try and do it myself with no outside influence. I am not a very good painter so I have no idea what I would do once I got done finishing the epoxy job.

If it is just some minor scratches I would not worry about it. If you have some so so places you can just use fiberglass rosin and fill the places. Then sand it back down and paint. Major hole or crack, then you would want to do a mat. The directions are on all the packaging, also.
