    Pump interchangablity

    I have 2 ski's a 98 SLTH and a 98 SLTX.

My bearings are shot on my 98 SLTH pump so I picked up a impeller and pump/housing assembly from a 2000 Genisis FFI. My goal is to fix my SLTH and use the 6 vane stator for my SLTX.

My Plan is to put the "new" pump from the Genesis into my 98 SLTX and take the one from my SLTX and put it into the SLTH.

From what I can tell the only differences are the The SLTH has a 12/17 prop. SLTX has a 17/25 prop. The Genesis has a 17/23.

How much difference does each prop make?

For only about $20, you can get an impeller removal tool and swap them out easy enough!! Unless the 12/17 is garbage......

I would like to use the whole assembly from the Genesis in my SLTX if possible. The prop and vanes look almost perfect. http://www.ebay.com/itm/310401720223...84.m1497.l2649

I just don't really understand how much difference there is between a 17/23 and a 17/25 yet. ( I just started reading up on differences in pitch) I can't tell if I would get more RPM or Less RPM.

As for the SLTH I was planning on swapping out the prop to keep the original in it. I have them both out now and looking a the difference I don't think a 700 motor could handle a 17/25.

To swap them out do I need a special tool? I do have an old BAD drive shaft that I was going to use to twist it off.

Some cut the end of the drive shaft off and grind flat spots to use with a wrench.

Typically the higher the pitch, the less RPM you will have, and the more load will be place on the motor. With that small of a difference, You may not even notice any changes.

I would think the 17/23 or 25 would be way too much prop for the 700......

Stay with the 12/17 on the 700. Its a great prop for that ski. The 17/23 may not be enough prop if you are running a 17/25 now.
