    Water in my hull

Can water make its way up the exhaust system and into your hull? I have the engine out of my 2000 xl1200 Limited. I have a duel trailer and decided to take the 800 for a ride. The 1200 was strapped down to the trailer when I put the 800 in and out of the water. So I guess it had no opportunity to float off the trailer as I backed into the water. A few days later I took the seat off the 1200 to prep the hull for the engine and saw about an inch or two of water sitting in it. The drain plugs were closed when I put the trailer in the water. Did I screw something up that I now have to fix prior to putting the engine in? Thanks.

Can you not back the hull into the water and find the leak?

Not sure, but it may have been pushed in thru pump. You said it was strapped down? How deep did you go when offloading the other ski?

Thanks for the quick replies. Just noticed it late yesterday afternoon so haven’t had a chance to get it back to the water to try to recreate the leak but I will now, good idea. Not sure as I was driving and buddy took it off (boats line up), I didn’t see water coming over the sides but it was probably up to the top of the back deck. Maybe two and a half to three feet deep.

If your water box was not sealed off, then yes the water could have backed (spilled) into your hull.

Consider how deep you had backed into the water and check to see if water could have backed into the highest point of your exhaust line. Once it gets over the high point and into the water box, it is easy to spill into the hull.
