    Front vs. Rear Air Intake?

I've got a Riva 4" rear intake on the way, and have been reading up on the install as I wait for it to arrive.

In my reading, I came across this article on the Fizzle site:

    http://www.fizzlefactory.com/sd_inta...oler_mods.html

The part that's worrying me is:

"The rear air intake is by far the best performer of the bunch but it is only for flat water riders as water ingestion becomes a concern with wave jumping or anything else where the rear of the ski tends to get partially submerged."

I ride almost exclusively on a river/lake, and I love to jump over boat wakes, but it's rare that I get water up to the rear of my seat. Should I be concerned?

I have run rear air for years and never had an issue ...

But if u jump big and the back sinks too deep then u may get water injestion ...

Thx, Slasher. I was reading Danny's intake thread:

    http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=85309

and he hinted that some owners run other filter material in their rear intakes. Anyone got info on what other options are out there for filter material?

I tested this. Ran 150 more rpms than the front air and about the same boost. I also have six 2" frog skin vents on each sit of the filter.

RXPJAY: Nice - Did you make any hull mods to get more air to the rear?

Not yet. Planning on something to move cooler outside air from the front through the hull. I know it's probably pulling a little warmer air back there but have not seen a boost drop. Did back to back test with the 4" front air as i was down 200 rpm since the spring in the summer heat and got them back with this set up. i guess with less restriction and shorter distance. I order a 4" adapter from jlewis and going to try this next.

Any filter you run--weather the filter RIVA provides with their RXP rear air kit or one like RXPJAY has you will lose 80 to 100 RPM. I have done many tests on these thru the years. I have never had any water injestion--of course I do not do 180s and 360s. You should be OK.

+1. It's all in how you ride. I will be going solid rear air, no filter once my adapter comes in. Was just neet to do a bunch of back to back test with different options.
