Hurricane driveshaft support rebuild questions
I did a bit of searching but didn't come up with much of anything. Has anyone rebuilt one of the driveshaft support carriers? It is very similar in design to a through-hull seal but has a needle bearing in the center of it. I'm mainly looking for a P/N for the seals and possibly the bearing if someone had that information.

Turns out the Hurricane driveshaft uses the same seals as the through-hull seal. So, it looks like the SKF 8702 seals should work perfectly. More pics and info to come.

If I thought I could pull the bearing assembly without damaging it I would definitely pull it. I can take some measurements though and see what I can figure out though. It's a needle bearing assembly in the center of the support assembly.

Well since my SLT is down and torn apart I decided to rebuild a spare through-hull seal for it and got the hurricane carrier seals removed so I could inspect them. It looks like they are indeed the same SKF 8702 seals that the through-hull seal uses. I'm not 100% sure on the bearing assembly. I think it could be removed but I'm not sure I want to risk damaging it. The one on my hurricane now is completely gone with toasted seals and no bearing assembly to be found. Who knows how long it had been like that before I got it. I now have a new driveshaft and will rebuild this assembly to go on the ski.
Got seals and bearings? Out with the old!
Seals removed, a pic of the bearing portion.
Looks pretty close to me...
Through-hull seal rebuild complete and ready for reinstallation!
If by some odd chance someone has a spare hurricane driveshaft support that's partially shot that I could use to cut open to try to get the info from the center bearing assembly let me know. It'd be nice to figure out if we can rebuild these things fully or if the best we can do is replace worn seals.

Btw, Hurricane season is definitely here... Too bad she's going to be down for a mid-summer repair soon. Swapped her out for the running SL the other night so I can verify I fixed the water leak on it and get the carb tuning nailed down.
On nights like this there's nothing more fun than throwing the hurricane around!

Sorry to bump an old thread, but looking for how you replaced the bushings and seals in the thru hull seal. Did you press them in or did you use some other process?
