2012 ECU question specifically with a VTech tune

I have an RPM limit question. When the ski was stock I had heard people say the ecu has hard and soft rpm limiters. For instants as the engine approaches the limit slowly the throttle is closed or maybe timing backed out, but if it hits it hard I imagine they start killing spark. I'm not sure but the point is I was running at 8640 the other day. My ski had an 8650 tune. I heard/felt no spark cutout, so was I on some soft limiter or was I really 10 rpm short of the limit?

The reason is I would like, when running in the Ocean for Wave jumping maybe drop in an 8000 rpm limit tune without a impeller change. I don't need or want the ski above that when wave jumping. If its is a soft limiter I think that would be ok, where as if it was gonna use ignition cutout all the time maybe not so much.

    Info and Opinions Please

    thanks Ed

I can send you a special file for wave jumping to test with your special rpm limits.

    Email me..

So, I guess my whats going through my mind is are you going to be changing something I can't see (map). You must be because otherwise you would just tell me to change my RPM limit right?

I will send an email when I get home.

    Thanks Ed

Jonatan did a good ocean map for me before I got a bigger charger, I found using a map say where full throttle was actually only around 75% throttle which meant it was very smooth in the big chop instead of being peaky!
Once I get the new mods tune perfect then I will ask him to do another ocean tune for me!
