My 2001 GP1200R Build
Bought this ski and double trailer about a month ago for $350... cylinders were wiped and motor was half taken apart when I got it. This is my first GP, but I am trying to do it right the first time. I have been working on it since I got it and made some nice progress. I hate cleaning parts and waiting for new parts! I am almost done though. motor goes in tomorrow.

so far the mods I've done are...
Pro-tec reed stuffers
Exhaust silencer delete tube
Carb return modification, chokes removed, rejetted
I picked up brand new genuine Mikuni carb kits from my local dealer. The o-rings that come in them are too short and do not seal the fuel pumps correctly. I was a little upset about this because the kits were about $40 a pop. I ended up cleaning and reusing my old ones. You can clearly see the difference in these pics.

Weird. I just rejetted my carbs and didn't see a difference I the O-rings. Did you get the I-series rebuild kits?

why can't I use a 14/20 or what else would I have to do to get there. I thought 13/19 is for a stock ski

13/19 is for stock to stage 1, 14/20 is basically stage 2. You need a lot of motor power to be able to spin a taller 14/20. Heads, rejet, FA's and stuffers would be minimum
