97 gts motor in a 98 gtx ltd
I have a 98 gtx with a bad motor, and a line on a 97 gts motor. Can the motor swap be done? I want to get this ski up and running without spending a fortune.

IMO, for the work involved there's no real gain here

I am not going for a gain, the one motor is smoked, and the other has compression, I just don't know enough about the older ones to know if their motors are compatible

Rebuild the engine is the best route. A gts would have a 717 engine. The motor wont bolt in to the three mount system the 787 has. Is this a 787 powered craft? 787 rfi? 951? I believe in 98 there were 3 different possibilities. Gtxl 951?
You will spend more in Frankenstein fabrications to make a 717 work. A whole different ignition system and all .

OK, thanks. That is what I was looking for. The engine is a 951 that is in it, and it got metal in the oil and fried a piston, so I was looking for a cheap replacement. I guess I will look elsewhere, or pull the motor and stt if it can be saved.
Thanks for the info rhyne,
