    98 stx1100 reverse cable

    Hey people,new to pwc's.picked up 98 stx 1100 with 90hrs.ski runs great but having issue with reverse cable.can unlock handle but can't lower bucket,can pull down by hand,lever moves with bucket but can't raise or lower with handle.is there some way to lube cable? Thanks

    You can try working it back and forth while shooting the lube to it, but in the end you will most likely need to replace the cable with the housing.

    thanks for the info "T", what housing are you referring to?

    The one that the cable is in, they come together when you replace them, not separate.

    hey guys,thought i might have a bad cable,found the bucket real stiff.disconnected cable from bucket and it slides smooth as new.bucket real stiff,hard to pull up and down by hand.are there bushings on the mounting bolts or maybe over tightend?

    Take things apart and clean them up. A little lube going back together will help with the moving parts and a little locktite will keep the bolts in place.
    Someone might have tightened things up too tight at some point putting things in a bind. Easy enough to check out and will take mere minutes to find out.

    It's much easier that way and the step comes off quick too...4 bolts, but they may/probably have a socket head that takes a allen head to take them off.

    Thanks T,will have to wait a couple weeks to get back up to camp.reverse would make docking easier at the marina.lol
