Take me to school i need a turbo education

OK I Want to go Turbo With in the next Year or 2 and I need a Education on them.

Ive seen several different turbo's out there, I have no Idea Whats good, what works and why.

I'm not looking to race just want a fun Fast Recreational Ski. I would rather a dependable setup that the fastest. (dependable and turbo hmmmm is that possible?)

I have been told a say 16 psi turbo setup vs 16 psi charger, The turbo will be faster and have better Fuel consumption.

I only want to go as far as I can go on Premium Fuel 91 octane. (I am willing to run octane booster if Needed)

How many options are out there? What works and what doesn't?

What's more reliable turbo vs super
16 lbs of boost is 16 lbs of boost correct?
Does the high price of turbo offset the reliable cost?

Seems like the turbo guys are mainly racers. Racers have deep pockets and tools, knowledge to build and change setups. Will be keeping an eye on this thread cause I have always been curious myself

I think 16 psi on a turbo is more because it takes less power to spin a turbo vs sc

last time i checked it was.....dont see how 16psi of boost from a turbo can be more than 16 psi from a Scer....especially when 16 psi is,16 psi..

That's what I was getting at sno a psi is a psi. Lb is a lb
Most fast I'm talking drag cars run supercharges. Only turbo guys around here are the ricers. Not sure why but thinking its because they don't have the displacement and turbos spool faster? I'm very curious

I'm thinking racers go turbo because the charger wheels for our skis don't have as much boost?

How when 16 psi is 16 psi? If the turbos motor is built more I'd think so. If we're apples to apples I'm not seeing it

What weighs more a lb of feathers or a lb of bricks

16psi on a turbo will produce more power because it does not have the parasitic drag the SC has
Also COULD have better fuel consumption, but depends how you ride. Fuel consumption is all about on boost/off boost.

It's going to be hard to get higher numbers than you already have, and a turbo should require less rebuilds than a supercharger, so could be more reliable. But you're also dealing with a lot of money, and a lot more fuel management issues than you do with just a SC
