    Uh, oh

Simple job today, install all the parts in the magneto housing, close it up and get the engine ready to install in the hull. However, when I tried to tighten the two 6mm bolts that hold the rubber grommet for the mag wires in place, found out one hole in the housing is stripped clean. No threads, nada.

Decided to try a "band-aid" repair. Drilled the hole out slightly oversize ~.290" or "L" drill size. Then I made an insert out of 6061 T6 to restore the 6mm threaded hole. Added some super epoxy and pressed the insert in place. Here's what it looks like:

Any bets on if it will hold or not?

I had a few people tell me and I actually tried this recently. Take the stripped out 6mm bolt hole and run a 1/4-20 tap in it. Works perfect to tap a 1/4-20 thread in it.
