    FZS Supercharger questions

I was out riding with my friend today and he was noticing a strange noise, which appears to be coming from the front of the engine. It sounds like a slight clunking type sound and It seems to be coming from the supercharger. He pulled the intake hose and the wheel only spins one way, and its tight the other direction. He did tell me there seems to be a little play in the wheel when he tried to spin it. Could there be a failing bearing or something like that? Where should we be looking? I know very little about these motors, I am a 2 stroke guy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Brian, any mods to this ski? Hours on motor? Year of ski?

If it has a 2011 or 2012 sprag clutch it could be a missing tooth off the supercharger sprag clutch? Just guessing! Tommy Jordan

Would it be worth it to just pull the supercharger and have a look?

    No sc wheel upgrades correct?
If there is new sound coming from sc with shaft play, it's most likely the bearing. But,
Go back in there, with engine off, fingers on sc wheel nut, spin fwd and back, make sure there is no backing up at ANY point. Because if the clutch lost a tooth or two, quick check of no back spin will give u a false negative. Remember that it takes roughly 10 sc wheel rotations to complete 1 clutch rotation.

if there is only one or two teeth off the sc clutch and it is not stoped it that exact spot of the missing teeth no loose motion will be felt. It's best to pull the surercharger and rotate the crank looking at each tooth on the sc clutch (which is on the crank) and it's matching idler gear with a flash light. Tommy Jordan
