Polaris sltx105problems with ignition trying to identifiy the parts?

Hello all have a 1997 polaris 1050 sltx with a intermittent spark issue. Opened electrical box to find that the small black wire to be melted. I'm assuming that the battery was hooked up backwards, being that its brand new. Im just wondering if it has had the update kit put in yet? Have read on here that the stator will cause alot of these type of issues. The Cdi has polaris part number 4010379 on it and the coil has 4060153 on it. I think the coil is original by looking at the parts diagram. But i can not find the correct cdi number. Can some one please help me identify the parts i have?

    Welcome to the Hulk

you have the Updated CDI and stator.

with the 1050s you do not need to update the coil they are fine, it does sound like someone hooked up battery backwards, due to that you might need to replace the stator as well.

Thin Black wire to the stator burned or melted? That is often the result of the metal shell of the electrical box touching (shorting to) the battery positive post.

If your electrical box mounts on top of the battery, make sure the plastic battery cover is in place. It is important that the electrical box shell not touch the battery posts.

My electrical box is mounted to the chassis of the ski. I did check inside the the box and its possible that the wire could have worn through the coating and touched the positive on the starter solenoid. I think ill order a new stator. Is polaris part number 4060128 the updated stator? Thanks for the help guys.
