I had ordered a new fuel pick up for my 2003 Polaris Freedom and finally got it in the mail. It appears it has everything it needs to function but it is quite a bit different than the old one.

The part number 2410124 matches mine and everyone I find on ebay with that part number looks like my old one. Is this just a remade, superseded part?

I'm thinking about just going with it but want to make sure it works because I don't think I can return it once it is used and it isn't so cheap.

The picture of parts shows one part number for before December 2003 and a different part number for after. My part said "if built before 12/29/03".

    Thanks.

Could you post up the part number(s)?

The translucent plastic version is the new part, correct?

Same physical size, diameter and height?

The part number I have is 2410124. This is for ski's built before 12/29/03.

Turns out there is also part number 2410521, which is the one for ski's built after 12/29/03, and only for 2004 Freedoms built after the December 2003 date.

This one looks way different from the ebay picture, and not the one for my ski.

Looks like I have the right one, they just changed design a bit. It is the same length and all so it appears it will work.

The above photo shows a fuel pickup (for carburetor engines) which mimics the design of the electric fuel pump used on the fuel injected models (Virage, Genesis, MSX 140). The fuel tank has a rather large top opening (about 5.5 inches inside diameter) and the fuel pump body just fits through the opening.

My understanding is that some Freedom versions/years used the exact same fuel tank as the fuel injected engines and the Freedom fuel pickup fit the wide tank opening.

It would seem that Polaris also used a different fuel tank top molding to fit a smaller diameter (carburetor engines only) fuel pickup assembly, which is what you show in your first photos.

For reference, could you measure the diameter of the fuel sender opening on your Freedom fuel tank?

What is the build date of your 2003 Freedom?
Last four digits of the HIN number on the rear deck.

If there is a sticker on the rim of the front storage area (not the storage bucket, the actual hull opening), look for a date there too.

I decided that it had to be the right part and went ahead and installed it. The other unit only fits some 04 freedoms. It's running now, but it was weeping from the rubber fill tube where it connects to the tank after i filled it with gas. It is always something. I cut the hose a bit shorter and pressurized and cannot hear anything. Taking it out on the lake tomorrow to see how it does.

Here is some pictures of the install. I used blue hose from Watcon. With this hose I had to get much smaller oetiker clamps, 10.5 compared to the original 12.3 I believe. If I had to do it all over though, I would need the next size up which would be 11.3 or 7/16 to fit the fittings to the filter bowl, for some reason those fittings were bigger and the 10.5's would not fit. I also replaced the selector valve with a skidoo one, I used a bolt to block off the reserve port. Overall, I feel it was a pretty clean install and I will order some 11.3's to finish it up later on.

The sending unit is installed so I can't measure, but it is whatever size that fits the pre December 2003 pick up (like mine). It's storming outside and it is covered in the driveway, I'll look for a build date tomorrow when I take it to the lake, it is before 12/29/03 though because it fits the pre 2004 part number pick up.

You still have the old unit? Same measurement, I expect.

Measuring the old unit it appears it would be about a 2 inch inner diameter opening.
