    Dash/Instrument panel going bad

2007 X12F - Dash is acting erratic and going out all together sometimes. If I turn the key switch off and back on, it's Ok for awhile. Local Kawasaki dealer tells me it's due to moisture and nothing I can do but replace it - telling me big bucks just for the part. Is there nothing I can do other then replace it? if so, does anyone have new or used one or know where I can get one for a reasonable price? This is a new user name for me because I moved to Delaware 5 years ago from South Jersey. My wife and I had taken several rides with you Jersey guys coming out of the Mullica and out to Atlantic City. Thanks is advance for your help. George Marsden

Remove the gauge, then remove the rubber plug on the back where the wires enter. Warm it up with a hair dryer to evaporate the moisture. If you're lucky, it may start to work again. Replace the plug and coat it and the wires with 3M 5200 fast cure sealant.
