    2006 rxt performance impeller/intake combo

    So after reading the many posts on here before doing any performance work to my ski I decided to do the following:

    -R&D Aquavein intake grate
    -Solas 14/17r impeller
    -Fizzle air intake
    -homemade catch can

    i had originally wanted the Solas 14/19 but after reading some posts the 14/17 sounded better. Well I just tried it out and it went great, EXCEPT, as soon as I hit the throttle from idle it hits the rev limiter. Once I get planed out (15mph and on) everything is good and WOT is about 8160 rpms. I tried the ski before I put the air intake on so I know that's what caused it.

    Am I forced to go with a steeper impeller now??

    Any help? I'd like to fix this over revving ASAP!!! Summer is almost over

    Check your wear ring and carbon seal sounds like cavitation

    You're on a 2006 ski.....you could be noticing a soft carbon seal bellow with the change in impeller performance. What do you know about the history of the ski and if it's had any maintenance to those parts?

    Thanks for your input. The ware ring is brand new. I've had the ski since 2010. I just put all the new parts on 3 rides ago, minus the air intake which was only on for the last ride. The first two rides with the new impeller, intake grate, and ware ring were great. Now that I put the air intake in and the catch can(I don't think that's what's causing it) I am seeing this problem. Top speed and rpms are great it's just when I first hit the throttle the Rpms shoot to over 8000 and I hear the engine rev up before I finally take off. It sounds like cavitation but I didn't have this problem before the air intake and the ware ring is brand new

    Sounds like the Air intake hose is laying on the carbon seal
    Causing it to suck air at takeoff. Re adjust it.
    That should fix the problem.

    I use a zip tie to grab my air intake hose up and off of my carbon seal assembly. They can definitely lay on top of it and be unnoticed. I run the zip tie up and over the SC outlet like a hanger and I wrap my fingers underneath to check clearance.

    Good suggestions. I just zip tied the hose to the supercharger outlet like suggested. I won't know til Friday when I ride if it works. It would. Be nice if it did. Doesn't get any easier than that to fix! If not I guess I'll have to do a new carbon seal. If the carbon seal was bad wouldn't it be leaking water into the hull?
