96 1100 waveraider exhaust boot install

Hey guys I'm new to this site and to pwc. The exhaust boot on my 1100 has a huge gash where the hose hooks to it where it then spits the water out of the side. Well I bought a new but after messing around with it, it looks like I have to take the elbow off to get the boot off is this correct or is there an easier way. Thanks for your help

The only way is to take off the elbow. Inner boot hose clamp and 4 bolts to manifold.

If you shove the outer boot back there is an inner rubber coupling that must be loosened also. If that is loose then yes, gasket and 2 locating pins holding it on tight.

So when I push back the outer boot is the inner boot close to the muffler or the elbow

It actually attaches the two together. Take outer boot clamps off then shove outer boot down towards the elbow bottom. You will see the inner connector. Part # 28 here-->http://yamahapartshouse.com/oemparts...2bc2/exhaust-1

When everything is lean and ready to go back together, a little silicone spray on the rubber will help it to slip right back into place.
