gprxp open loop vs closed loop cooling

i have a 2004/2005 gprxp with a 2 rude charger riva ecu and xs intercooler, right now i'm runnin the stock seadoo cooling system with a heat exchanger but thinking about changing it to open loop ( i have the 4 tec performance open loop plate and riva thermostat just sitting around) so im looking for thoughts and opinions on the two options. also whats the best/simplest way of plumbing the gppxp for open loop? thanks in advance

IMO unless you live in the tropics its not recommended. Seodoo 4-Tes's do not like cold water being introduced into the lower block.

I'm thinking about doing the opposite... Going to a HX instead of OL

I swear by my Open Loop cooling in my conversion. I've run open loop since 08'. I keep my engine water temps consistant at 185f (and my oil gets hot enough). I use my own water routing and a Riva thermo. I can flush on the hose normally and use in salt and fresh water alike. BUT if you already have a working heat X changer system, why change it. I ran a C-kit for years on the OEM cooling system with no issues.

Why would you want to go open loop? Are you having cooling issues with the HX? What size HX are you running?

There's nothing wrong with the closed loop its just a real PITA dealing with all the clutter of the closed loop in a already stuffed full hull
