    polaris SLH Vs SLX (2001)

i own a 2001 polaris SLH and to be frank love it... but the chance has come up to get a extremely clean 2001 polaris SLX. should I make the upgrade? is it worth having the bigger engine in this hull? ive not ridden a 1200cc in this hull before. will the fuel costs suck? is it that much faster? my 701cc goes like stink. its flys for what it is.

I guess it depends how much they want for the 01 SLX,

I have an 01 SLX and ill tell you that is one FAST machine. i believe top speed is low 60s it puches out of the hole and doesnt stop going. its a BLAST to ride.

If you ride a SLX 1200 it will put a permanent smile on your face big difference.

Oh yeah!!!!! The 1200 in a 2 seater is a blast. Its as quick as most of the new supercharged skis. Maybe not quite as fast on top end but just as quick out of the hole. I think the 2 strokes hit harder when you punch the throttle too.

I have ridden both '01's and own the SLX. The SLX feels like it has an extra gear. Mine topped out at 63.5mph on a gps. The SLH will do 52-53 and you really do feel the extra 10 mph.
With the 1200, fuel mileage really depends on how you ride it. We recently had a long ride ( around 70 miles), averaged 45 mph and my SLX did it with fuel to spare. Where we usually ride, I have a lot of chances to hold it wide open and easily half my mileage.

Believe it or not, the 1200s are not terrible on gas. Just cruising, they do pretty well. The DI 1200s, i think are about the same as the carbed 700s when it comes to fuel use.

The carburetor 700 twin engines are considered to be VERY good on fuel consumption. If my Ficht 1200 Virage TXi is matching the 700 carb'ed fuel economy, that is impressive.

I think its pretty close, having owned both. The 700 may be a little better, but I don't think its by much.
