2008 SEA DOO GTX 215 - top end speed loss
Hey guys..looking for some direction on my stock 2008 SEA DOO GTX 215 supercharged with 80 hours on it. It ran great last year and had normal service completed and had it out twice this year and it feels sluggish and top end is slower then before. I had the starter relay replaced and other then that nothing changed besides it sitting for 6 months. It now appears slower hole shot and top end is 3-4 slower then even before. Is my supercharger slowing losing compression and thus top end speed loss? please help as I want my fast ski back!..thanks!

Sounds like old fuel. Have you installed new spark plugs?

+1 old fuel
Run out the tank and replace the spark plugs.
Also with 80+ hours I'd suggest a complete s/c rebuild. Washers and bearings. Jerry on this site does a great job and I've never heard a complaint.
Also check your ware ring and impeller.
With the warmer temps its common to loose 2-400 rpm.
When it gets cooler you will get the rpms back.

Ran out the fuel..and plugs are borderline needing replaced so will tackle that this weekend...tested with new fuel...runs about the same...seems louder this year...I will probably have to get s/c done this fall and will look up Jerry. I have ran the ski in warmer temps and never had issue with top end. I was planning on installing new impeller, ware ring, s/c overhaul, etc at 90 hours....doesn't appear it will make it.. BUT still beat brand new yamaha with passenger...even slower hole shot got em...ha..but still want those 300 rpm back and 4 mph. I appreciate the tips guys..and will keep ya posted...please post if you have any other suggestions..Thanks again!

I always suggest putting in new plugs every year after you burn the 1st tank of fuel. Also run a double dose of fuel injector cleaner thru it Atleast 1-2 times a year. I run Lucas Injector and upper cylinder lubricant in all my skis every tank of fuel.
A clogged Injector can burn a piston-cylinder quick.

My ski was running horrible this spring like a 2-stroke with a fouled plug. I replaced the spark plugs and wow what a difference! Well I also cleaned the plug caps with electrical cleaner too...

Another thing to check is the coil packs/ spark plug caps. They do break down over time and sometimes split or not conduct as well. Your ski is coming up on 6 years old and im sure after 6 years they have lost some conductivity.
