    E.P.I.R.B. and radio recommendations

Sorry for posting in here as well as the general discussion area. But I figgered that the people who know most about these will probably hang out more in here.

The trip to Bimini is fast approaching (provided the skis are out of the shop in time). We WILL NOT even attempt without an E.P.I.R.B. each and some radios would be nice. We love our Amazon.com and will probably order from them, so we will need your recommendations ASAP.

I would recommend a PLB in a pocket in your life vest, an ACR PLB-375 ResQlink+ personal locating beacon. Don't forget to register it. Also have a handheld VHF with DSC and don't forget to sign up for a free MMSI number. Here's a good article on them:

Use the VHF if within range and the PLB as your last resort cause your gonna get a whopper of a bill for deploying a SAR.

I'd also carry my iPhone in a LifeProof case with the Boat US phone number in my contact list as well as my membership card on board.

What's cool is you can also program waypoints in and use this as a backup GPS. I have a Uniden, but iCom and Standard Horizon make great ones too.

Because I took a wrong turn, then got all ate up with the dumbass and overheated it. Hopefully I didn't totally kill it. I mean, it ran until I turned it off. But the next day it was hard to start and began "leaning out." Hopefully, the shop will let me know something tomorrow.

Thanks, Chet! Holy text overload BatMan! You'd think Yamaha released the 2014 lineup or something.

E.P.I.R.B.s and radios ordered from Amazon! Now, I really hope the skis are ready in time...
