But any to my question.... i just went out and bought myself a new 2006 rxp in december and am just wondering how i should go about breaking it in to ensure i will get the best possible performance out of it?

break-in opinions vary... it's a very controversial subjective subject.

my best recommendation is to have fun with it. ride it like your normally will with ONE exception... don't hold the throttle wide open for more than a few seconds at a time for the break-in period.

dont be afraid to go fast and accelerate hard and then let off and cruise around... the important part is to let the motor properly warm up when u first launch it and then just vary the RPMs and let the motor go thru the entire rpm band and not just spend 10 hours at 5000 rpms

best of luck with it!! welcome to the forum and dont hesitate to ask any questions you may encounter

Warm it up for about 10 mins and then go to shore and check for leaks or anything out of the ordinary. Then go out and bring it to speed and the go full throttle for about a second. Do this about 5- 10 times and each time hold it Wide open throttle for a extra second each time for a max of 10 seconds then just ride it like you are going to normally.

    And welcome to the forum!!!

Im gona agree with what everyone is saying warm it up at idle for about 10 min. Then ride it pretty hard but dont hold it wot for more then 5-10 seconds. Watever you do dont pussy foot it, dont be scared to give it some gas.
