    FZR VX ride plate setup

I installed a VX ride plate on my FZR but it seems I can't get the extra MPH out of it. What's the best way to install it?

Mods: riva free flow, riva intake w/ ribbon delete, riva BOV, rd grate w/seal kit.

I've tried with stock shims and one washer in the back and got no bounce at 69.3 1/4 tank of gas. And I've also tried no stock shims with one washer in the front with bounce 68.8 on a 1/4 tank.

Start by removing the stock shims. I then use two washers on the front (closest to the transom) to reduce the transition to the plate and help eliminate the high speed bounce. Try it there and then you can leave it like that or play with adding washers to the back as well for increased stability, etc.

We have pretty similar mods (see my sig). I run my Jims VX plate with no shims at all (bolted directly to the hull.) Not sure if this is the best way to do it, but hey it works for me. I did try shimming the back of the plate, but ended up removing the shims because riding offshore was causing the shims to push into the hull.

Thanks guys, ill try no shims at all and also adding some more for smooth transition from the transom

I'm glad I did the Insert replacement, as the new ones are way stronger for shimming ride plate and ocean riding......there solid all the way through the length
