What do you think it would cost to repair a damaged front compartment

On the 2000 Seadoo GTX RFI I just purchased, there is damage on the front compartment with exposed fiberglass, I initially thought that it was gelcoat and could easily be fixed but another member told me that the hoods aren't gelcoat but actually painted, the damage is the size of a half dollar, I assume if they repair it, then the whole thing would need to be repainted, does anyone have an idea what it would cost?

Stand back a second. My opinion is that just by the age of this ski, don't waste $$$ on something like that. You could buy a little bondo kit, smooth it out and try to touch up paint it or put a cool sticker over it??? Save you $$$ for something else. I know it is new to you, but it'll probably be fine. Someone probably came in to a dock to fast...Live with it...jmho.

without pictures, the question cannot be answered.

unless the ski is showroom mint, I'd take the above advice.

shops charge lots for hull repairs and painting.

I had a hinge area repaired and repainted on a 97gtx for a customer last year.

$200..paint match was perfect and so was the bodywork. could never tell it was damaged.

Still, it was a good amount of money considering what the rest of the ski looked like, but without the hood hinge in good shape, the ski could not be used safely

Post pictures, you might even be able to find a new hood for one of those skis for cheap.

Put some filler in it and a nice sticker over it.
Save the $$$ and head ache.

Agreed! Fill it in, sand it off and protect it. A sticker would be well placed there .

Turn a blemish on an aged ski into character and ride on my friend! .

I appreciate all the advise, my friend also said if it was him, he'd slap a sticker over it, I'll snap a few pics and post them when I get back home
