2008 RXT oil pressure switch faulty? Help
I am working on a 2008 RXT SCIC and it is doing strange things. The first time I Key it up I get 2 beeps followed by a 3rd long beep but no warning on the cluster but code P0520 shows up on Buds. I cant clear it.
I have replaced the sensor tested the wire harness Verified Oil pressure and just recently replaced the ECU, ( NOW for Sale ) because I noticed that if I start the ski then shut it off then reset the key a second time I only get 2 beeps and the fault can be cleared until you let it sit for 5 min and you have to start all over.
Its very odd that if I start the ski 2 times the problem goes away
Thanks in advanced for any suggestions, Ideas, solutions or explanations

I had a similar issue. Mine would go into limp mode when the engine was cold. I had to idle around for 5-10 minutes then I was off and running.
Remember that the 4-tec have two oil pressure switches. one by the filler and the second torwards the rear (opposite end of the engine) below the air intake (Likely the one you changed). Try changing the top one and if it does not fix change the 2nd. I had to remove the throttle body to get a socket and extension to change it. Use a deep one like you use to change your spark plugs.
Mine never threw a code it only displayed "low oil" or something to that effect (I think its been a while) when in fact it had plenty of oil.
let us know how you sort out and which one you changed already.

Thanks for the input but on late model 2006 and up 4tec engines they did away with the osps (oil separator pressure sensor) and the tops solenoid valve. The osps works with the tops to make sure it is open,
But thanks for the suggestion.

Seems like a bad connection at the sensor. you start the motor, it shakes around and fixes itself. see if you can get in there with a pic and bend the metal closed more so it has a tighter grip on the pin in the sensor

its def something in the wiring.

just figured it out !!!!! Older 4tecs use a normally open ops.. and new ones are normally closed when engine is stopped.
I was using a manual that was to old for the ski (2004) needed (2007+)

Sorry I didn't see this sooner or I would have commented. I had the same issue when I first bought my 05 RXT. The previous owner changed the ops and osps. The ops he reinstalled was from a newer ski so it would show low oil and throw a code. I took it out aNd checked it with compressed air and multimeter to find out it was the wrong switch. New ops and everything back to normal. It was weird that I was able to still ride the ski with the other switch in, I figured it would put the ski in limp mode. Anyway, glad you figured out the problem.
