New to 4 strokes and confused about motor oil

I'm new to the 4 stroke world (2007 VX110) and loving it so far. But I'm confused about motor oils. I did some searching on this site and read the Amsoil evanlegists posts, but being in a small town, I prefer to walk in a store to pick up oil.

The service manual I have says this....

Engine oil type 4-stroke motor oil
Engine oil grade API SE, SF, SG, SH, SJ, SL
    SAE 10W-30, 20W-40, 20W-50

my read on this is that basically any automotive motor that meets the above specs is fine, so a Mobil 1 Synthetic 10w-30. Is that true or am I missing something?

If you don't have a supercharger with the sprag clutch friction modifiers or synthetic would be a plus.

the vx110 is just a fuel injected 4 stroke, so no supercharger or clutch that I'm aware of.

Correct. As far as I know, only supercharged machines would need to worry about oil being 'too slippery.'

I use castrol GTX 10/40 for all my services. Good oil, readily available and wally word has it for under $4 a quart in 5 quart jugs.

change oil often in a yamaha. You cannot get it all out at an oil change, so some dirty oil remians

The Yamalube that you get at the dealer is 10w-40. I run standard 10w-40 Valvoline motorcycle oil in both my ski's.
