Seller states it does between 75-80 depending on conditions...that makes him either a liar or clueless.

I see a small hose with a bolt stuck in the end of it, laying on top of the water bar!

So I should stay away from this Ski... Is the price inline if it was in sound condition.. You have one how do you like it, I'm looking for a bigger ski to pull tubers or take riders...

I expect that at these prices every machine you find will have some issue or 'story'.

Really, the only way to know is to actually inspect each machine in person. Despite being sold as a pair, each will have its own history and often enough will have different issues. I would really want to water test each one, to verify it is producing full power and can achieve proper RPM while under load.

The MSX 140 is an excellent hull and some consider it to be the best version Polaris ever made. In fact, there are repowered MSX hulls running competitively with current day SeaDoo machines.

I would approach this deal from the perspective of risk. If one of the engines really does need a full rebuild, are you OK with the approx $2,000 it might cost to completely refresh the mechanicals, everything from bow to jet pump? I would end up with a like-new modern design watercraft that looks good on the water.

If the EMM engine computer needs repair, budget $800 for that. It might cost less, and it is possible the EMM does not need repair at all.

It is to be expected that small stuff like the through-hull bearings should be rebuilt, and I am sure there is other stuff that needs attention. A good AGM battery will be about $100. And on it goes.

Trailer may need some love too.

Budget not only for the initial purchase, but also for the up front costs to bring everything up to par.

And of course there will be some ongoing costs as various things wear and age, all normal with any watercraft. Oil and fuel too

What price for the smiles when you are out on the water?

I'm in the Syracuse are as well and have a good feel for the local market. I think that's a real good deal if the ski checks out. On water test ride and compression tests are a must IMO. The 2003 MSX had some problems that were corrected for 2004 do a search and make sure any of the 03 weaknesses were corrected on this ski.
