    Carb settings at 0( huh!)

Hi everybody, I'm a newbie. I just picked up a 2000 xlt with a blown motor and plan on making this a winter project and looking for much needed information, so I decided to come aboard. I started taking carbs apart and found the pumps full of crap, number 3 the worst, this is why that cylinder probably melted and destroyed the motor, anyways the question I have is, has anyone after drilling out the high needle plugs found the adjustment to be zero on mag and center, (very odd) double and triple checked this, cylinder 3 was adjusted at 1-5/8, not sure about this, any imput would be appreciated.

One of mine was close to zero. Of course while you were drilling you could have hit the screw and turned it. It's not so much a matter of where they started from (turns) but where you need to be (tuned). Put the screws at about 1.5~2 turns out and turn/tune from there. Youve got a big project - so, check out the thread I made on half-rebuild and re-doing carbs with upgrades. Also get more from Q&A section from OnSideBill.

    Thank you for the imput!
