    Polaris mfd voltage Question ?

I have a 95 Polaris SL 750 and the MFD faded out to where it was no longer readable. So I purchased a good working Mfd on Ebay and installed it .everything works as it should except I noticed that when in voltage mode the voltage was reading 14 volts before even starting the ski and after starting' it ran up to nearly 17 volts !!! wow ! so i shut it down in fear that I had a voltage regulater problem . I then got out the trusty voltage meter and tested the battery while starting and to my relief it was only putting out about 14.5 tops or so . So my question is why is the mfd reading so high ,is this common ? and or is there a way to calibrate the voltage reading, any help would be appreciated thanks !

I tried the recalibration sequence in your signature links multiple times and the voltage still reads 14 volts when sitting and not running ? still at a loss here ???

Does the MFD actually appear to complete the calibration sequence properly?

In any case, sometimes these MFD just show inaccurate voltage readings. I just make note how much the display differs from the actual voltage and do the mental math as needed.

It seams to be , in any case as long as its not going to fry something its not that big of a deal. and I did check it with the meter and everything seems fine when doing the check on the battery, it s just a little un nerving to see that thing climb to nearly 17 volts or so lol makes you think you have a bad regulator !
