    1996 SL 780 Idling too high/won't rev up..Help!

I have rebuilt all three carbs and replaced all the fuel lines on this ski. Now, I can't seem to get the idle to lower down. It is idling at 4300 rpms and wont rev up. Where do I start? Is the low speed jet the lower adjustment with a T handle on the left side and the high speed the bigger slotted screw higher on the right side of carb? Please help! Thanks

When idling properly out of the water, you should see around 3,000 RPM. Once in the water, it will idle around 1,200. The Lower T handle on each carb is the low speed adjuster. The high speed adjusters are higher up on the carb body. IF you haven't already, you can pull the black caps off of the high speed, and adjust them with a small flat head screwdriver.

Ok thanks. I read in one of the tip threads that the factory high speed settings for my ski was 3/4m 3/4c 1p. I take it the m,c,p is the order of the carbs, so what does m,c,p mean as for as order?

Magneto, or front. Center. PTO, or rear. Your settings are correct. Lows start at 5/8 out.

Still no luck. Idle stop not touching and butterfly closed, low speed jets closed all the way, and still 4300-4370 rpms There must be something wrong in carbs. I personally didn't rebuild them. I let a guy at work do them. Should have done them myself.

What happens when you apply choke?

I don't know. I will have to see and get back with you. Thanks

It dies when you pull the choke. I noticed when it first started it idled at 3300 and quickly rose to 4300 plus. It does crank immediately without the choke.

I don't know if I would be so concerned about a high idle as I would about not revving up. What happens when you squeeze the throttle??

It bogs and wont take the gas.
