    Angry melted piston an battery on 01 waverunner gp1200r

    I bought this waverunner about 2 weeks ago put new jug in piston an rings took it out on the water ran fine for 15 20 minutes then it died hit the button nothing hit it about 6 more times it finally tried starting started up ran good for 5 minutes same thing towed it to shore took it home an tore it apart an the positive post on battery is melted an so was the piston on top that i just replaced any ideas?

    I never got over 30 mph an didnt keep it at the same rpm the whole time was tryinh to break it in an this is what i got

    You didn't fix the cause
    Only the damage
    The battery was melted because of the heat from trying to start a seized motor
    As the motor cools it will sometimes start again , as you found
    You need to look into the carbs
    And fix the cause of it being lean

    ok next question is i got it home pulled the plug wires off an the plugs out stuck my finger over sparkplug hole to make sure there was compression an when i turned it over i got zapped plug wires were hanging on the outside of the ski

    Yep the ski motor will act as an earth
    And go through you at the same time

    It's bad to just let the spark plug wires just hang loose when cranking the engine. That current has to go somewhere and if it doesn't have a path it will find one, sometimes breaking down otherwise-good insulation, just causing you more problems later on. Always ground the spark plug wires before you crank the motor.
