    1999 Yamaha XL 1200 Cavitation!

I have a 1999 Yamaha XL 1200 that has severe Cavitation. It always had a little but a few weeks ago I beached it and took some rocks and sand through the impeller. I looks pretty dinged up but I don't know if it's enough to cause such bad cavitation. I also noticed there was no gasket left on the intake grate when I removed it. I am just about to purchase and aftermarket Wear ring/housing and refurbed impeller. Is there anything else I should try first? Thanks.Click image for larger version.

You are making all the right moves. It would be wise to get a Solas 12/18 for that beast of yours though, compared to a refurbished "stock" impeller (if that is what you intend to get). You should be able to find a good used one on this forum in the FOR SALE section.

Do some research on sealing the pump shoe. Use 3M 4200 sealant (instead of a pump plug kit) and fill all gaps between the hull and shoe.... especially at the aft part of the shoe where the hull, shoe and ride plate meet.

Also, get a 5 degree nozzle for that thing. You will gain about 1mph in top speed, the bow will ride higher, and the boat will feel much livelier.

Do all of these things and you will have a much, much better hole shot.

    ....and welcome to the forum!

GPR nozzle will require modifications..... need to drill & tap 6mm holes for the reverse bucket to mount.
