2008 RXT X Gauge Problem
Got a stupid gauge problem with a 2008 RXT X. When you plug in the lanyard it goes through its power up cycle, a 0 in the speedometer appears for a second then it almost all goes out. The 6 lights at the bottom stay lit up as well as the compass work. Everything else goes blank. Gauge fuse is fine. Any ideas what else to check?

Check the connections on the back of the guage.
Sometimes they get corroded and need to be cleaned.

What's the easiest way to get at the back of it? do I have to remove the whole black panel underneath?

Its not the gauge. Tried a different 1 with same results. Tried every fuse & still no luck. Has a RR comp & still the same with the stock comp. Any other ideas? What controls it??

Ok I'm a pro at this now Lmao!!!! To boot we have same ski's your gauge is going through self check but it is not getting a can signal. First when you swapped to stock computer did you marry the gauge? Here's how that circuit works power, ground, white/red, white/black. You are obviously getting power and its self checking. Check can connector it should read around 180 ohms if not or open or unplugged thats the culprit. Pull off b harness connector top two pins if you pull the plastic flap back are white/red, white/black ohm those to fuse box. One ohms to top fuse bus which I believe is d the other is to bottom those are your can wires. If that checks out ohm from fuse box to back of gauge if that's fine your ecu can circuit is bad

I just went through this with my ski, except I lost complete power to the guage. I tested to make sure the gauge worked, cables, fuses, everything. Swapped parts out. The only thing I didn't touch was the ecu. When I swapped out ECU's, the gauge and ski worked fine. If you have another ecu to test out, try it and see if it works (by the way in case you didn't know, use the key for the same ecu as they are one).
