    1993 sl650

hey everyone! I purchased a sl 650 and now tore it all down and have realized it needs new connecting rod bearings as the side to side play on them are excessive.. question is can I replace them?

    Welcome to the Hulk

Polaris Cranks are pressed together, so yes you can rebuild the crankshaft but willl need a professional to do so John Zigler www.watcon.com also Rock County Jetski is a good source for Crank rebuilds

I do not know much about indexing crank shafts. I am not sure how much it would cost to do a 650 but im guessing 400 to 600 dollars but that will basically be a NEW crank shaft, everything would be re built

Have you actually measured the side play? There is a fair amount of wiggle side to side even when new. I think spec is around .018

Its actually .012-.024 on a Fuji.

I haven't actually measured but you can see the difference in the firs cylinder to the last.. I'm guessing they measure the side play close to where the connecting rod joins the crank not up near the piston end as the readings would be multiplied
