Need to change Sl1050 wear ring?

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I need to replace the wear ring on my Sl1050. I know how to get the pump apart but how does the actual wear ring come out of the housing?

Welcome to the Hulk, do you mean the 4 inch extension that is part of the pump? if so that should just fall apart when you remove the pump.

if you mean the point where the pump mounts to the hull, I believe known as the Pump Shoe? ( correct me if im wrong guys) that invloves more work, mostly removing nuts from inside the hull, removing water lines, and some time as its sealed to the hull.

RMK - Just so you don't get discouraged, sometimes the 4" pump extension takes quite a bit of influence to separate from the pump stator due to corrosion buildup.......

See the Jet Pump section from my signature links. There are links to videos that show the pump being removed and taken apart.

Unlike some other watercraft brands, the Polaris wear rings are integral to the pump housing or extension section. While it may be possible to re sleeve these, the typical approach is to replace the housing when the wear ring inside is worn too badly.

On most models the wear ring is stainless steel, so it takes a lot of abuse before it actually needs replacing.

Are you sure the wear ring needs replacing? Often if blade clearance is too large the fix is to refurbish or replace the impeller.

ID:	310933Ok. Didn't know if wear ring itself is replaceable. I haven't got the pump apart yet but it looks like there is quite a gap between the impeller and housing. Hard to see but here is a pic.

Once you pull them apart you can measure the gap with a feeler gauge. It is possible that the impeller has excessive wear and that the wear ring is in fact ok...?

The problem is it is cavitating on takeoff. I resealed the ride plate, intake etc. I have a sl900 that hooks up great. It looks like the 1050 has a larger gap than the 900 does. I will take it apart and get the feeler gauge in there.
