Is there any performance mods for the SLT 700????

hi, i have a 1996 polaris slt 700 and ive looked around a bit and havent seen any performance mods for it. is there any for it?? im sure there is but havent found any. im willing to spend big $$

what i really would like to know is,
do they have expansion chambers for them? (like those big fat pipes you see on a 2 stroke dirt bike, in case you dont know what i mean)
    any performance carbs?

    thank you in advanced

The best thing you can do for that ski are hull and pump mods. Oceen Pro ride plate, 6 vane stator, maybe a 6 degree wedge.

Well, usually the most cost effective way to go significantly faster is to upgrade to a machine with a much bigger stock engine. A highly tweaked 700 can put out similar power to a totally stock 1200 engine.

Generally speaking, the newer models with the larger engines also have updated hull designs which handle better (or differently, depending on your point of view).

A 96 SLT 700 has the 'low-output' 700 with 80 HP. You could swap in one of the 95HP 700's from an SLH, Virage or better yet a Hurricane engine with the 009 Cylinders. Or you could build a 777/800 as well. The 95 HP engines should be easier to find though. Make sure you get the exhaust pipe and carbs too though.

I don't think that hull has mounts for a 1050/1200 but if it did that would also be a good option to get a bit more power without spending a ton of $$$.

The only things that are really going to help you out are to replace the original impeller with a recommended skat-trak, a 4 degree pump wedge & if you can find the parts to put the extended pump setup on it, this hull already has the long ride plate on it which works well. There are no aftermarket ride plates for this hull, there were some made for the 94 & 95 models, but Polaris changed the design for the 96 SLT700 rideplate, it was like the aftermarkets for the 94 & 95's. If you could find a good running 98 or newer 95HP 700 you would gain about 4 mph in speed, but its hardly worth the swap unless you are pulling the motor out of a trashed hull.

I would keep the SLT700 stock and find a 2001 slx 1200 stock on craigslist thats a fast fun ski.
