What is a 4* key way? I just checked compression and came up with 119-121-110 taken with a decent gauge. Ski has 169hrs on it. WI will most likely replace the top end this winter since from what I've seen if sh!t breaks in this motor it's not cheap to replace.

Hello, and congrats on your new to you ski. The previous owner did a lot of mods ...but no prop change? Or just not sure. And you state changed /installed R & D heads ... but your compressions do not reflect any increase in compressions or RPMs. If anything a little low. You should change out the prop if you determine that the engine compression can support it. Not sure that is the case yet. The key way would increase your timing and thus up your RPMs some. Keep asking questions of this forum and we will continue to offer any help that we can. Good Luck

Awesome, thank you! Yes, prop is still stock. I was just looking at it and noticed an aftermarket intake grate too. I figured comp was a little on the low side but since I grabbed this ski for $2600 I wont mind throwing a fresh top end in it. I took it out this afternoon and I'll post the couple pics I have of it from today.

Good looking machine.
What type of comp gauge was you using?
With head's comp should be around 150 psi . its real hard to determine if the heads were machine to lower compression back to factory, since you got it that way, it will be hard to believe someone will do that, but like the other member say , it looks low.
I will recommend before spend any money on a new top end , check comp with different gauges, just to make sure.

Who makes a good steering nozzle for this ski? I'm going to start setting it up for running buoys for next year.
