2003 GTX. Looking for more speed
I just picked up a 2003 GTX. I am going to rebuild the engine. I was thinking of putting in forged pistons and changing the supercharger gears. What else would I have to do to get an honest 70 mph ski? Change injectors? Reflash ECM? Different cam? Thanks. Should I drop the engine assembly in a different hull?

I would honestly sell and upgrade to an RXP if you're looking for serious speed.

Yeah lots of work just to get it to 215 level if you have a niche working on stuff do it if not get an rxt

the gtx hull is the same as a rxt
IMO the rxp hull is too small for any speed on anything but glass
if your in the gtx cheap enough it may be worth the complete rebuild
remember your resale will be low because of its age
so if your going to spend 5k on it you better like it and keep it
I just did a gtx, it was a freebe and I stuck way more than 5k in it and
just yesterday my daughter said I love that gtx

Skys the limit on go fast stuff.
How fast you want to go and what's the budget.

I am looking for 70 MPH. I was going to rebuild the engine anyway, so I thought I may as well upgrade some internals while I was in there.

just upgrading to the X stuff will get you to 70
you will need to spin at least 8150
but if you rebuild use the upgraded valve train you will be able to go way past 8150
lots of posts on how to upgrade to a X motor

I did a search for " x motor " and the upgrade did not come up. Could it be call something else?

Forged Piston, 255 flywheel, x charger should be a start for making a 255. Oh yeah, add an intercooler too.

Alright to make a 185 into a 215 here is the list;
215 supercharger gear (full Jerry rebuild advised)
arp flywheel bolts
PTO gastet, oil & filter
04-05 215 ecu
215 fuel pressure regulator
215 driveshaft with hat and clip (should replace carbon seal)
215 wear ring
I think thats the full list to get it to a true 215, then you can start some go fast mods from there.
