How does this grate come off

I wanted to remove my grate to get a better view of my prop and wear ring from the intake side, so before I screw anything up, I wanted to ask how it's done. Here are some pics. I wish someone had a course/clinic us newbies could take so we could learn everything we need to know about our skis.

This is a 2000 Seadoo GTX RFI
    Thanks in advance,

Remove the 2 bolts, then try and pull the grate fwd. I bet the back just has tabs.

that is correct. be careful not to whack yourself int he face when the grate come off.

you want to check the inside of the hull for where those two bolts come thru. I've seen a few skis where there are nuts on those bolts ( and typically what happens is that "they" try to remove the grate bolts and snap them off...panic ensues, but the bolts are simple to get out from the inside.

btw, pull the pump..it's not as complicated as it look and if it needs work..it's coming off anyplace.

usually a really bright light will let you see pretty much what is going on in there. Jap the light into the pump nozzel and you'll be able to tell quickly if you re puling the pump or not.

it's around a half dozen bolts to get the pump out. You'll likely want to grease the prop splines at the minimum anyway.

I feel totally inadequate now, I just watched a You Tube video where a guys 9 or 10 year old is finishing up replacing a wear ring and assembling the jet and putting everything back together again.
