2008 SeaDoo Utopia 205 SE 430hp - Throttle Shifter handle broke in two!

We purchased a 2008 SeaDoo Utopia 205 SE 430hp last month. My throttle has always seemed a bit stiff, both in forward and reverse, but a couple of days ago, I guess the stress on the handle proved too much and the throttle/shifter handle broke in half! I went online to see about buying a new one, and from what I can see it only comes as part of a kit called the Control Handle Assembly for $720.99 (part number 204390530). Does anyone know of a way to purchase the handle only? Thanks in advance!

i have just had exactly the same problem. How did you make out? Did you have to purchase the entire kit?

Well from the looks of it, the push button lock/unlock cable is broke as well. You might want to look for a aftermarket one or what company makes the lever. Do not pay BRP prices on that, $700 is crazy.

Seeing as the one you have now is toast. Time to take it out and see how different it is from say a Mercury lever. You might be lucky and could use something off the shelf.

I found the handle (and full assembly) on ebay for about $530. I also picked up a throttle cable for around $140. I took it to my local SeaDoo shop and labor is 4 hours. It's there now. I never did find the handle only, and figured that there was an underlying issue in either the assembly or the throttle cable that caused the stiff throttle and handle break in the first place. So, I wanted to just get it completely taken care of...
